Illamasqua Nail Varnish in Perseid

Posted on: Monday, 11 November 2013

Drawn to anything galactical, sparkly, and nail artsy, it goes without saying that when I received Illamasqua's email launching their #Creators collection, I had to have Perseid (Illamasqua, £14.50).

I've been trying to veer away from glitter nail varnishes for a long, long time because a) they're a complete pain in the arse to remove and b) they look a little bit childish in the office. However, whilst Perseid does require a good removal session - there's just no getting around that glittery nightmare - it's absolutely perfect for a grown up look, with a hint of sparkle for the upcoming festive season.

At first glance, the shade seems predominantly black but after a closer inspection, you can see undertones of deep blue, rich purple and dark green, great for Autumn/Winter.  The different coloured and sized specks of glitter are also quite subtle, until they catch the winter sun in the most beautiful and dazzling way.

Application was really easy and I just applied two coats, without a base or top coat because I was in a rush. The varnish dried really quickly and had a glossy finish but actually felt quite gritty due to the glitter specks. Something which might be overcome with a top coat maybe?

I am really quite smitten with this nail varnish and will certainly be making the most of it this season.

Have you tried anything from the #Creators collection?
